Better search for every online store

We've spent years running online stores and watching the same problem play out: customers search for a product, get terrible results, and leave. The built-in search on most e-commerce platforms simply doesn't work well enough.

The solutions that exist — Algolia, Athos Commerce, and others — are excellent products, but they're built for large retailers with large budgets. Monthly costs can reach hundreds or thousands of dollars; pricing is typically based on search volume and/or product count and the store integration often requires a developer.

We built Boltn Search to bridge that gap. The same features that enterprise retailers rely on — AI-powered results, autocomplete, faceted filtering, merchandising, analytics — at a price point that works for small and mid-size stores.

Our approach is different: we combine traditional keyword search with AI semantic search, wrap it in a widget that can't break your store (thanks to Shadow DOM isolation), and put everything behind a dashboard that any store owner can use — no developer required.

Boltn Search is built on auto-scaling cloud infrastructure with global edge caching and row-level security on every database table. Average search response times are under 200 milliseconds.

Our streaming XML parser handles catalogs of any size — 40,000+ products and 500MB+ of data — using only ~50MB of memory. Products are upserted on every sync, so your search index is always accurate without duplication.

The embeddable widget uses Shadow DOM isolation, which means it's impossible for your store's CSS to break the search experience or for the search widget to break your store. This is a technical detail most merchants never think about — until a third-party plugin breaks their checkout page.
